Sections 1–5 apply to the fridgiary Android food expiry app (com.andrea.freshday). The video player at fridgiary.com is a separate web service, described in section 6.
1. Information on your device
The Android app stores food names, dates, storage status and selected photos in its private storage on your device. Photos appear on food cards. This information is not uploaded to a linqen server. The app has no account registration, advertising, payment or cloud backup features.
2. Photos and on-device text recognition
When you choose a photo or take one to scan a date, Google ML Kit processes the image on your device. The image, text in the image and recognition result are not sent to Google or linqen servers for recognition.
3. Google ML Kit diagnostics
ML Kit may contact Google to obtain updates or compatibility information. It also collects device and app information, per-installation identifiers, feature configuration, input and output sizes, performance and usage metrics, and error codes for diagnostics, API maintenance and improvement, and misuse prevention. These diagnostics are distinct from the content of your photos and recognized text.
Google states that this diagnostic data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS and is not shared with third parties. Google's handling and retention of this data are governed by its policies. See ML Kit terms and privacy, ML Kit data disclosures and the Google Privacy Policy.
4. Permissions and reminders
Photo selection and camera capture start only when you choose those actions. Notification permission is used for local reminders three days before, one day before and on a saved date. You can manage notification permission in Android settings.
5. Storage, retention and deletion
Food records and app copies of photos remain in the app's private device storage until you delete them. Deleting an item removes its saved record and associated app photo. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it removes its local app data. Photos originally saved in your gallery are not deleted by the app. There is no linqen cloud copy to restore or delete, and the app disables Android cloud backup and device transfer for its data.
6. The separate web video player
The Fridgiary web player reads and, when needed, converts files in your browser. It does not upload your videos to a server or save your playlist between visits. Refreshing or closing the page clears the in-memory playlist; your original files remain on your device. The web app has no account system or analytics code.
Playing a YouTube item loads Google's embedded player and sends connection and playback information to YouTube under the Google Privacy Policy. Browser cookies and your Google sign-in state may affect that processing. When local conversion is needed, the browser downloads the conversion engine from jsDelivr; the video itself stays in the browser. Website hosting and these external services receive the network information needed to deliver their content, such as an IP address and browser information.
